A highly skilled forward, Ian returned to the ice for the Presidents for the first time since his freshman year (2005-06) @ Duquesne at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon, PA (12.6.2008). Beitler scored a goal and added 3 assists for a 4 point night in a 10-2 win vs. John Carroll (1.31.09) at the Iceoplex at Southpointe.

Beitler earned honor of being named the Washington & Jefferson College Ice Hockey Rookie of the Year (2005-'06). In 35 games played during his freshman season, Beitler tied for the team lead in goals (14) and assisted on 12 others for a total of 26 points. Scored his first collegiate goal vs. John Carroll (10.22.05) in a 9-2 victory at the Ice Zone during the ACHA DI Showcase in Youngstown, OH. Beitler netted a hat trick at Robert Morris University (2.15.06) in a 7-3 win at the RMU Island Sports Center.
