WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE ICE HOCKEY

PRIME TIME PRESIDENTS
HELTMAN'S HEROICS, PENKROT LEAD W&J SENIORS TO OT WIN

SAT. FEB. 18. 2012 -- Despite a tough season, the Presidents were a roster of players who never quit. They proved it again tonight at the Ice Zone in Boardman, OH versus the hosting Youngstown State University Penguins. The Presidents' senior class stepped up and won an epic game by the score of 4-3 in overtime. A back and forth game with a playoff-type atmosphere, full of fast-paced hockey and lead changes, was surely a win that the graduating seniors will never forget.

Senior forward Mike Heltman (11,12) played heroics as he scored twice including the game winning goal in overtime that sent the Presidents into a frenzy. Senior Captain Mike Penkrot (5) capped his career with his 55th career goal (good for 10th all-time on the Presidents' goal scoring list) while sophomore Bill Austin (12) scored as well.

The Presidents thought they had the game won but Youngstown State scored with just under two minutes remaining in regulation which sent the game to overtime and set up Heltman's heroics.

Senior goaltender Dustin Tanner picked up the win between the pipes for the Presidents in his final collegiate game.
